Biography
I’m Professor of Immunology (Dr.rer.nat. "D.Sc.") and Former Head of Zoology Department, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt), and the Editor-in-Chief of the Egyptian Journal of Zoology (2019 up to date). I'm a Scientific Expert at Economic Courts. I'm also a Member of the National Committee for Biological Sciences (2022 up to date). I'm an arbitrator for the Scientific Committee to examine the scientific production to fill the positions of professors and assistant professors in Egypt, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. I was an arbitrator for the scientific excellence award for a number of Egyptian University, as well as state incentive awards in advanced technological sciences that serve the fields of basic sciences, and the awards of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology for the simplification of science. I was also a member of the Faculty Promotion Committee of Supreme Council of the Egyptian Universities (2019-2025). My general specialty is Immunology, and my specific specialty is Molecular and Cellular Immunology. I got my M.Sc. in Physiology from Ain Shams University, Egypt (1995) and the Dr.rer.nat. (D.Sc.) in Molecular Immunology from Hannover University, Germany, with a very good grade through a four-year full scholarship sponsored by the Egyptian Administration of Mission (1997-2001). During this period, I was a guest investigator at the Institute of Virology, Bremen University, Germany (1997-1999) and the Department of Clinical Immunology, Hannover Medical School, Germany (1999-2001). I worked as an Assistant Professor in Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program, Medical College of Wisconsin, WI, USA from March 2003 to January 2005. During this period, I participated in many research work activities that added a lot to my experience, language, and scientific thinking. I also worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Science, College of Science, King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia from January 2007 to July 2012. I have many publications in highly impacted scientific journals, and I got many grants and awards from the Egyptian government and international scientific congresses and committees, for example, the State Incentive Award (Egypt) in Biological Sciences (Immunology), Clinical Research Award of Faculty of Medicine, University of Wisconsin, USA, Research Award in Basic Sciences of Oncology Center, University of Wisconsin, USA, Ain Shams University Shield, Faculty of Medicine-Arish University Shield, Science Friends Academy Shield, Rama Academy Shield. I was one of top 1% highly cited researchers (Thomson Reuters) for the year 2016. In addition, I discovered 11 T-cell epitopes for Aspergillus fumigatus that were recorded in the International Immune Epitope Database, La Jolla, CA, USA. I’m a member of many scientific committees, societies and editorial boards of a number of scientific journals. I was also a member of the organization committees and a Keynote lecturer in many international conferences (USA, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Poland, China). I’m a course coordinator of the Immunological courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Zoology Department, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University and a supervisor/co-supervisor of many M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in Physiology/Immunology program. I speak good English and German.
