Biography
Sherif Zaki, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Medical Mycology at Mycology Unit, Faculty of Science, Ain shams University. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Medical Mycology Research Center – Chiba University, Japan. His research activities focus on epidemiology and laboratory diagnosis of human fungal diseases in Egypt. He established the 1st Medical Mycology laboratory for fungal diseases diagnosis at Faculty of Science, Ain shams University in 2013 and 1st Medical Mycology Laboratory in Ain Shams University Hospitals (El-Demerdash) in 2023. In 2015, Global Action For Fungal Infection Organization (GAFFI) chose him as GAFFI ambassador for Egypt. In 2019, he founded the 1st Egyptian Association for Medical Mycologists (EAMM) which focuses exclusively on fungal diseases management in Egypt. His latest research projects focus on evaluating the diagnostic options for pulmonary fungal diseases in Africa leaded by GAFFI and updating the profile of Mycetoma disease in Egypt.
